We're almost two weeks into March, and I’m back again with a bi-monthly goals blog post. As a writer with a full-time job, I need to set deadlines and goals to move forward and grow both in my professional career, and my writing career. (Plus, I just love planning!) I’ve found that I tend to do better with bi-monthly goals as they are more manageable and short-term. Last January I set ten goals for myself, and to succeed, I wanted to meet at least eight of these goals.
My January/February 2018 Goals were:
1 Release a new post on the website every Sunday
2 Release a new blog post to the Resource Library every Saturday
3 Read at least two books a month
4 Release secret project at the end of the month
5 Post chapters of my debut novel to Wattpad twice a month
6 Interact weekly with my critique partners
7 Send out two emails a month to my subscriber list.
8 Reorganize my blog
9 Write down a grateful thought every day
10 Strive for balance in everything
Overall, I was successful! Whether it was a book review, an author interview, a guest post, or a writing tip post, I released new content every Sunday. I also went on to release additional free content, including an editing freebie, to my subscriber's only Resource Library every Saturday. To help with my goal of reading two books a month, I joined an online book club via a Facebook group and I announced my Author Coaching Program! If an idea has been brewing in your mind these last couple of months, but you don’t know how to get it from your brain onto paper, or, you have a couple of notes together and a basic story outline, but you can’t seem to find the motivation to finally start writing definitely click on the link above and see if I can help.
I also finally starting posting chapters of my novel to Wattpad! You can find out more about my novel here and read it on Wattpad here. My email list subscribers did receive two emails a month (to sign-up click here), and my blog got a small face-lift in the form of a new logo and some reorganization. (Have you check out the redesigned Writing Resources page?) Last, but not least, I did strive for balance in everything every day.
Now, this doesn't mean I was perfect. Unfortunately, I didn't interact with my critique partners weekly and I again failed to write down a grateful thought every day. I think I'm going to give up on writing down a grateful thought every day, but I do want to interact with my critique partners weekly again. Because I met eight of my ten goals, I declare the last two months a success. Now, for my March and April goals - I think you're going to love them! Once again, in order to succeed, I would like to meet at least eight of these ten goals.
My March/April 2018 goals are:
1. Release a new post on the website every Sunday.
2. Release a new blog post to the Resource Library every Saturday.
3. Read at least two books a month.
4. Post a new chapter of my novel on Wattpad at least twice a month.
5. Interact weekly with my critique partners.
6. Send out two emails a month to my subscriber list. You can sign-up here.
7. Win Camp NaNoWriMo. You can view my profile here.
8. Arrange two guest blogging posts.
9. Plan out blog content at least a month in advance every month.
10. FINISH THE FIRST DRAFT OF MY NOVEL! (Yes, you read that correctly. It's been almost six months and it's time to get things rolling with this book!)
