This book was sent to me in ebook form by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. As always with NetGalley, the cover and description are what really drew me to this book!
I don't have a cat or particularly like cats, but the synopsis of the book drew me in. While I wouldn't exactly call this book a rom-com (I didn't laugh nearly as much as I wanted to) I did enjoy the main character, Clara. She was young, full of life, and trying to find a romantic fairy-tale type of love. Throw in a cute vet, an interesting professor, a colorful cast of coworkers, and a best friend with an enviable life and you're in for an interesting read.
The story was a bit predictable, but enjoyable and sweet nonetheless. My only fault with it is that I felt we spent entirely too much time reading about Josh and not nearly enough time focusing on Adam. The stolen moments with Adam were enjoyable to read, and I would definitely enjoy a sequel of sorts with more of him in it. Overall, in the end, Clara picked the man I most wanted her to be with.
I would recommend this book to others and I can't wait to read what the author puts out next.
P.S. One of my favorite sentences from the book was: 'Oh, God, this is so embarrassing. Thank heavens technology hasn’t yet provided us with the ability to read minds; the day that happens, I’m throwing myself off a bridge. It’s the only option. No one can ever find out what weird stuff goes through my head.'
